TF-CBT
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment designed to support children, teens, and their families in healing from the effects of traumatic experiences. Trauma can leave lasting emotional, behavioral, and physical impacts, and TF-CBT provides a safe, structured space to process those experiences with compassion and care.

In TF-CBT, children and caregivers learn practical tools for calming the body, managing difficult emotions, and understanding how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Sessions often include activities, coping skills, and gentle ways of talking about the trauma in order to reduce distress and build resilience.

Parents and caregivers are an important part of the process. They are guided on how to support their child, strengthen communication, and foster a sense of safety and connection at home.

The goal of TF-CBT is to help children and families move beyond trauma, restore a sense of safety, and build confidence and hope for the future.
