This workshop is a beginner level play therapy training where participants will learn play therapy skills and methods from seminal and historically significant theories such as Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Adlerian Play Therapy, Gestalt Play Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy. This will be an experiential workshop where participants practice interventions that can be used right away with clients.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to….
-
Describe at least 10 toys and games that are typically used in the playroom across theories and ways to build up these toys in their own play therapy practice.
-
Practice at least 4 expressive arts activities that are used in directive play therapy theories such as Adlerian and Gestalt Play Therapy.
-
Identify how to set limits using Child Centered Play Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy.

Recognize the stages of Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy and Adlerian Play Therapy.
-
Utilize Adlerian Play Therapy therapeutic metaphors and mutual storytelling with clients right away.

Apply basic sandtray therapy and processing skills that can be adapted for a variety of directive play therapy theories.
