Join us for a specialized play therapy training designed for mental health professionals working with grieving children and adolescents. This interactive workshop explores how play therapy helps children express, process, and heal from loss when words aren’t enough. Participants will learn evidence-based techniques and developmental considerations to distinguish between typical and complex grief. Through experiential activities and creative play-based tools, you’ll leave equipped to confidently support children and families navigating grief in the playroom.

 

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the unique ways children experience and express grief and loss.

  2. Distinguish between typical grief and complex grief in the playroom.

  3. Identify at least three theoretical models that inform play therapy for grieving children.

  4. Apply at least five play-based techniques to support children coping with different types of loss.

  5. Identify at least 3 books that can be used in bibliotherapy with grieving children in play therapy.

  6. Employ TF-CBT in at least three ways in the context of play therapy to help children with loss and grief.
